Xi expressed congratulations on the successful opening of Chancay Port and showed respects for the builders from both countries who overcame the challenges posed by the pandemic, working together to complete various tasks with quality and efficiency. He pointed out that in just a few short years, a modern port has risen, which is both exciting and inspiring. The Chancay Port is not only a good deep-water port, but also the first smart port and green port in South America, which, when completed, will also bring Peru with huge revenues, create a large number of jobs, and strongly consolidate Peru's position as a gateway that connects land and sea, Asia and Latin America. Over 2,000 years ago, the ancestors of the Chinese nation set sail across turbulent seas, forging the maritime Silk Road that connected the East and West. More than 500 years ago, the ancient Inca people of Peru bravely traversed steep mountains to build the Inca Trail that runs through the Andes. Today, Chancay Port is becoming a new starting point for the "Inca Trail of the New Era". "From Chancay to Shanghai", what we are witnessing is not only the blossoming of the Belt and Road Initiative in Peru but also the birth of a new land-sea corridor across Asia and Latin America for the new era.

Xi emphasized the need for joint efforts to build, manage, and operate Chancay Port well, continuously enhancing its capacity and overall service level. He encouraged active exploration of logistics driven by corridors, trade driven by logistics, and industry driven by trade, adhering to the principles of joint consultation, construction, and sharing. This will empower Pacific coastal economies, including China and Peru, to develop together, make it a true path to prosperity and happiness for Peru and other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, create mutual benefits in a broader space, and bring more tangible gains and satisfaction to the people of all nations.

Chancay Port is located in Chancay Bay in central Peru, about 58 kilometers north of the capital, Lima. Its advantageous geographical location provides convenient access to Peru's economic center.

The port is also a natural deep-water harbor, with a maximum depth of 16 meters, capable of accommodating the largest container ships currently in operation. The Chancay Port project involves multipurpose and container terminals, and related infrastructure. The first phase of construction plans to build four berths, including two multipurpose berths and two container berths, with an annual designed throughput of 1 million TEUs, 6 million tons of bulk cargo, and 160,000 roll-on/roll-off vehicles.

As the ICT contractor for Chancay Port, Huadong Elec-Tech has exported a "Chinese solution" for an automated, green, low-carbon smart port to Latin America. This includes a range of systems such as cloud data center infrastructure, WIFI7 networks, computer networks, F5G optical communication systems, IP telephony, IP broadcasting, 5G onboard computers and intercom system, VHF system, i-gate system, i-lighting

system, reefer container monitoring systems, Beidou differential positioning systems, multi-sensor integrated navigation systems, cctv systems, access control systems, port area over-speed detection system, intelligent security inspection systems, electronic fences, 5G patrol systems, intelligent traffic control systems, integrated wiring systems, paperless meeting systems, and information release system.

Huadong Elec-Tech formed a project team of over 40 members, overcoming challenges of tight implementation timelines, large workloads, high technical requirements, simultaneous construction of multiple systems, and difficulties in overseas construction organization within an 11-month period. In the face of adverse conditions and external challenges, the team demonstrated unprecedented resilience and determination, achieving significant progress at key project milestones through meticulous project management, enhanced attention to detail, and precise risk control, laying a solid foundation for the successful completion of the entire project.
